JAHDON, the CONGO BONGO MAN

 

JAHDON (Oshane Mamby) is a singer, songwriter and entrepreneur from Canaan Heights, Clarendon, Jamaica.
Like many reggae artists, his musical roots came from exposure to church  music while growing up in a lush environment of sound systems and diverse radio programming.
These powerful influences created an overwhelming desire for Jahdon to create music.

He understood, there were financial barriers raised by a single mother with five children. Jahdon intuitively leaned on the family trade of broom making to support his opportunity to gain studio time. His entrepreneurial activities gave Jahdon the skills to manage a business while gaining financial independence. 

 

MUSICAL JOURNEY

 

Jahdon worked hard pursuing music at the professional level for the past seven years. During this time, he was honored to touch the stage with many reggae legends.
In 2017, he launched his personal music label, “Look Ya Noww Entertainment” and released a breakout hit single/video "Congo Bongo” followed by “Congo Bongo Empress.” 

In February 2020, Jahdon released his freshman album, entitled ‘369.’ The year brought strong recognition with his album launch at Dub School in Kingston, multiple impactful performances during Jamaica’s Reggae Month and honored with Jamaica Gleaner review dubbing him as “Reggae Music’s Next Messenger.”  

As a result, in March 2020, Jahdon traveled to South Florida hoping to expand his musical footprint, connecting with American radio stations and meeting in person with a rapidly growing fan base. His comprehensive plans were suddenly halted due to a state-wide quarantine. 

 

STAYING CREATIVE DURING THE QUARANTINE

 

During the ‘Stay at Home’ mandate, Jahdone gave a handmade broom to a friend. He observed the materials needed were right there in Florida. He added ‘red, gold and green’ reggae colored paint along the long slender handles posted on social media brought a surge of broom requests from all over the world.  Not only are they a trademark exclusive to Jahdon and his music, they will be collector’s items for years to come.

MUSIC MISSION NOW AND BEYOND

Jahdon regards himself  a global messenger of thought-provoking and inspiring messages through his carefully crafted music. The album ‘369’ hailed as a “glorious introduction to this talented artist…and the potential greatness to come” is available on all digital platforms.
His talent promotes a musical experience of contemporary Reggae, Dancehall, Afro Beat & R&B ignited by clean, conscious lyrics much needed in today’s chaos and confusion.
