CURRENT STATUS IN EU ON CRUELTY TO ANIMALS

Official moves by EU Commission of work in progress on this front, in the background of some people among few others unaware totally and the rest in limbo of wait, finally reveals official intention.

Collaborations are good, was the claim predominantly in this show. And are we already ready for the new, is what the EU Commission is asking us, simply because some of us are up to date on this state of affairs, while some of us are not. For many like journalists and persons who claim themselves to be conscious people, beware of the disclaimer - consciousness is the highest high. 'You can't handle the truth' - remember this powerful line in a movie said by Jack Nicholson. And do take this read with a pinch of salt as it is not really meant to upset anyone. Passions run wild for the wild, in the wild west, and this has happened at many-a-protest we may have witnessed on television maybe in the past and now on social media websites, with regards to cruelty to animals. Its something we all agree about fundamentally and there has indeed been this topic ever so in the background, but indeed existing, that came up every now and then. Try typing in search engines and you will know that people who knew of this, have indeed been doing their bit which is enough if we talk about this till it reaches people at operations, like is the accepted process. For those of us, not yet in the know how of things, here is the low down.

Firstly, lets get off the illusion of ignorance - turn as vegan and vegetarian as you want, this changes nothing for the animals or operators of unethical food production. Laws and guidelines need to further get created and ignoring the action with quitting actions involving this cruelty, or food from this industry makes, if it really does, as small an impact as that of a petition with a process involved if not practically a lesser or even no impact.

The food production industry provides food to shops and supermarkets, including those food products that come directly or indirectly from live animals. We eat this. Now here is a story not mentioned on the radio - to give you an idea of how cruel this process is to the animal, simply due to laws that were probably made with good intention but fail to address cruelty to living creatures we use as food. 80 cows needed to be killed as per the law created, due to machinery that went off due to an accidental power cut for few hours. This machinery was to suck milk out from cows. Being a highly developed country, back up generators are almost never required and hence incidentally not workable at this oppurtune time, which led to an amount of pain for the animals finally leading to cows developing infection due to overload of milk in their system. Note here, in mass production units, machines and cows are attached for their whole better part of life and this was a farm where this was being privately done. Yet, the law prescribed the cows to be 'disposed off' since they were no longer useful after the infection, and treating 80 cows medicinally with anti biotics - as something that law never thought about simply, for the sake of the animal perhaps. The owner of these 80 cows incidentally was a girl who had named each cow, and hence she and few friends decided to contact animal rescue organisations who would take care of these cows for the rest of their lives, for giving milk from their live systems for the earlier half of their lives. This philosophy of dispose off when not required, is something that may have got many elders in distress, for this type of attitude that when something gets old, get it out of your life. Not only is this inhuman, but to not write about this in a judgemental way is keeping an emotions at bay.

The cows were rescued to a farm in Austria finally instead of being 'disposed off' due to taking anti biotics and hence not being useful enough for our food industry. While this instance has been never reported bebefore this read, if anyone thought of such instances more in the recent times in mainstream media for the sake of our attention, there was a story about 3000 cows being transported from a to b, where bfound the documentation inadequate and hence had to ask the ship carrying the cows to go back to a. But the food was only enough for one trip and not enough if the 3000 cows were to travel on ship again. The story brought out the right understanding of things perhaps, so we make sure this never happens again. At this time rings in this question from the survey in the pic above.

No doubt nothing will happen overnight. Now here is news from the EU on a positive note of taking surveys of bettering the space for animals used in food production or namely the agri food industry, as capitalism understands it. Moving towards better ways of treating what we eat, in a simple fundamental sense, brings along an ethical way of treatment to animals here finally. Giving up cages was one of the missions that was considered by the EU commission. My dear readers, there have been protests and many at that, with regards to Ethical treatment to animals and such passionate pleas have finally landed us at a place in time when things are looking seriously in this direction. This was simply possible with just a few people conscious of this evil among us. So the take here is that the entire food production from the end of the farmers to transportation to lifestyles of animals at the production place can be streamlined with laws and guidelines from the European Commission. This will however apply to Europe, all its countries, including countries suplying to EU for prodution and output. With possibility of ethical guidelines in place, including a suggestion of having an ethical document altogether to abide by, currently in the proces of taking this survey, one however needs to login with the EU Commission website inorder to take this survey, which already has more than 700 individuals / institutions as participants of this survey. It is open to all nationalities however since Europe is, was and always meant to be a melting pot of citizens from different backgrounds. Hence progress was almost guaranteed with this ideal.

So for the link to the survey, look up the European Commission Website from a search, which bring one to a page with a login. Like metioned, creating an account should hopefully not hinder many from taking part in the survey. So for those who may not take part, the pic on screen with questions 3 and 11, are for display, to begin with. A closer understanding of these questions bring out the process of bureaucracy involved in changing things for the better. This question about whom the cages are more important to sends one thinking if any particular type of animal is alright with being caged. Like mentioned however, the call here is to be ethical, which is sometimes beter understood when we see it from the perspective of using the same treatment that we would have been alright with if we were in the place of the animals. Provoking emphaty standards may help to unlearn and unwind from harder standards that we have become dehumanised with, although the element of helplessness can now possibly be dealt with better, knowing that moves are being made at the level of the European Commission, finally. The pic with questions from this survey reveals the status of where the humankind is at, currently in one of the most modern parts of the world. The good part here is the direction officially chosen.

Going on towards the world of music, musicians who are open to collaborations got mentioned. Among them were Ranjit playing in one of the long live and electronic jam sessions, and Shantam who created a pleasant mix of a commercial vernacular pop song from Goa. A song that was also used in the movie, 'Nachomia Kumpasar, a film from Goa that got nominated for the Oscars, this song was remixed by Shantam and quite possibly not many from this commercial vernacular world of listeners may have heard this. The list of great music from Elvis Lobo from Goa simply continues, with collaborations and more musicians to know from such ventures with the Newcomer News show getting its share of music probably never heard of on radio before, if not news about an officially endorsed process for the better. Another reason to perhaps stay tuned.
