Newcomer News Moments (Music, the world and Goa ... with Love)

Greek Gas and C from Goa chat about newer moments with updates from places around us, and a people's movement to save an Indian endangered language as per UNESCO. Sharon & Wilmix, State Awardee for Art & Culture in Goa feature as guests.

The show started with titbits of news from unrest in Budapest, a small follow-up of similar situations in Greece, and had some special music. Making things more interesting were the State Award Winning Couple - Sharon & Wilmix - from Goa, India.

And when answering the question about the latest song written by these singer, song-writer, actor, director, producer professionaly, we hit upon something that gets called, 'The biggest Fraud of the 19th Centuary', with the denial of official recognition of the oldest script of a language for Konkani in the state of Goa, namely the Roman Script.

Just as luckily as we struck upon this topic thus bringing forth an emotional display of support for equality, having RON FIDELIS (also known as C-Goa), the youngest and oldest journalist of Goa regional theatre called 'Tiatr', helped. Finally focussing on saving a regional state language by uniting its different scripts thereby uniting the force of this language - its people - Gas the Greek got to understand this situation of inequality, thousands of miles away.

Coming from a political situation at the end of the day, leaving out emotions, sentiments, and identity out of an official ambit clearly revealed the damage the language is made to go through. Making the clarion call for equality of scripts where citizens can chose their own script to enrich their language to the state admin to get things united for the language, finally came out as the purpose of the latest song performed by the guests on wueste welle radio from Goa on this day.

Ignoring more than 450 years of literature in the Roman script in the Language Act made no sense to the progress of a language. And this was politically done by simply mentioning one particular favourable script in the Language Act as the official script. Incidentally, this was not even required to be mentioned - it could have just been Konkani as the official language, and thats it, like done in other Official language Acts in other states in India.

Trying to guide justice to serve the language and the people using it in the best pro choice sense, with inclusion, is the call of this movement to officially recognize the Roman script of Konkani, in its schools, as well as in the Language Act of Goa finally.

The friendly couple singled out certain of their compositions for us, just to get an understanding of the mindset of another place with the entertainment in that area. A worthy way of delivering information or rather 'infotainment', what also cannot be missed is their NGO, called Theatre, Art & Cultural Training (T.A.C.T.), that actually works with the Central Administration of India by using the medium of theatre to bring important information to remote villages and locations in Goa (sustainable development, water harvesting, etc.)

On a note as light as how the interview went, with all of its moments, just like they and we all say - there is no biz, like SHOW BIZ  ... listen in and get more :)
